More of what we already knew. So glad smith is relentless though, these crimes need to lead to some  reprecussion.

  2. >Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing the case, gave Trump’s team an extension that moved the due date of a filing until after the election. Trump’s motion to dismiss based on his claims of presidential immunity is now due Nov. 7, while the government’s reply is due on Nov. 21. Whether the case ultimately goes to trial depends on the outcome of the election.

If Trump becomes President-elect in 20 days, this sadly ends. The documents case will end. Both the Manhattan sentencing and GA pre-trial will be suspended indefinitely as well. (And yes, since there’s often confusion here – even state cases will likely be paused while Trump is in office)

The election is so important for not only a glimmer of a hope of Trump’s personal reckoning, but also in terms of setting a precedent for the ages to hold the office accountable.

We got decades of legal/policy fallout from Nixon that created countless rulings and guidance that we desperately needed. The fallout from Trump would put that to shame. As long as he loses.

  3. Kinda feels like the fact that Trump is a felon and facing plenty of more crimes is somehow getting lost in the shuffle. Like he’s running because of his ego and to stay out of prison

Also Merrick Garland is one of my least favorite people for sitting around with his thumb up his ass

  4. I am really hoping the FBI is sending him threatening and despairing letters and messages like the ones they sent to MLK.

  5. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/donald-trump-bears-responsibility-jan-6-attack-jack-smith-argues-new-f-rcna175707) reduced by 79%. (I’m a bot)

    > WASHINGTON – A team of federal prosecutors led by special counsel Jack Smith said in a filing Wednesday that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump bears responsibility for the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

    > In a filing responding to Trump's attempt to dismiss the case, Smith's team said it "Is incorrect" for Trump's team to assert that the superseding indictment returned against Trump in August does not show that Trump bears responsibility for the events of Jan. 6.

    > The indictment alleged that Trump exploited the violence and chaos at the Capitol, and in a recent filing Smith's team said that Trump – when he heard that Pence had to be rushed to a secure location shortly after Trump attacked him on Twitter – responded by saying, "So what?".

Lol, the fucking loser stood on a presidential debate stage and blamed Nancy Pelosi.

Trump‘s main argument is that he didn’t incite it, he didn’t cause it, and essentially he had nothing to do with it, but that flies out the window when you take into account the fact that he did nothing to stop it as it was happening. He could’ve sent the military, he could’ve sent the National Guard, he could’ve sent whoever, he is the commander-in-chief! The fact that he did nothing is damming enough.
On top of all the evidence of every one of his subordinates seemingly coordinating with the proud boys, militias, and many of the attendees of the event, and that’s just the nails in the coffin . This is the equivalent of a bank employee being aware of a bank robbery, being tangentially involved in the planning of the bank robbery, witnessing the entire bank robbery, and then saying they had nothing to do with it.

  8. Yeah well no shit he does, he orchestrated it, and everybody knows it. How did Garland and Smith take this long?

Trump deserves his right in court as a civilian, as he and all his political supporters in Congress argued during his impeachments. That’s why he should not be elected as president before this doesn’t get cleaned up in court and suffice dodging it!

  10. “Whether the case ultimately goes to trial depends on the outcome of the election.”

    What’s wrong with that sentence?

  11. It took me until today o’ clock to learn about the Eastman memo. Between that, this, and the Georgia Secretary of State call, how anyone can say this piece of shit wasn’t doing everything he could to toss out the election until he got a favorable result is beyond me.
