‘Let’s just listen to music’: Trump’s town hall event gets weird

  1. Donald Trump was already facing questions about his mental acuity and cognitive abilities. Then he bobbed his head to music for 39 minutes at an event.

With three weeks remaining in the election cycle, Kamala Harris is increasingly focused on Donald Trump’s steadiness — or lack thereof. In fact, at the Democratic vice president’s most recent rally, she specifically referred to the former Republican president as “[unstable](https://x.com/KamalaHQ/status/1845983940386975814),” a week after The New York Times ran [a front-page report](https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/06/us/politics/trump-speeches-age-cognitive-decline.html) noting that the GOP nominee “has seemed confused, forgetful, incoherent [and] disconnected from reality lately.”

  2. Very bizarre. I wish there were an actual way to determine if he’s got dementia or if he’s just being weird. Either way, voters would absolutely crucify Biden and Harris for doing this while I suspect Trump will get a pass. Frustrating.

  3. Never forget the time a Democratic candidate lost all momentum and support because he once screamed exuberantly at a political rally.

How is this not the only thing being discussed on every news channel? I certainly hope the Harris team or at least PACs are creating ads right now. They need to stop playing nice and hit him on dementia.

  5. If Biden had done this the calls for the 25th Amendment to be invoked would be dominating the news cycle.

We’re told that no world leaders will take Harris seriously because she laughs sometimes. Trump pulls this shit and yet somehow world leaders respect his strength and are intimidated by him.

  6. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/lets-just-listen-music-trumps-townhall-event-gets-weird-rcna175449) reduced by 75%. (I’m a bot)

    > Former President Donald Trump turned a town hall event in front of supporters in Oaks, Pennsylvania into an impromptu listening party Monday night, playing a unlikely selection of tunes for more than 30 minutes after the event was paused for medical emergencies.

    > The Washington Post published a headline that read, "Trump sways and bops to music for 39 minutes in bizarre town hall episode," which summarized matters nicely.

    > The Post's report added that Trump "Turned the event into almost a living-room listening session of his favorite songs from his self-curated rally playlist," adding, "As Trump stood onstage in his oversize suit and bright red tie, swaying back and forth, it was almost as if he were taking a trip back to decades past. Trump's decision to cut short the question-and-answer portion of the town hall and instead have the crowd stay to listen to his favorite songs was a somewhat bizarre move, given that the election was only 22 days away.”

  7. Goddamn embarrasing. He’s been hiding out for weeks, and now he can’t even make it through a softball townhall with a friendly ‘host/moderator’. His inability to function is on full display, it has been for a while now.

Put this on top of his criminal mindset, his anti-American sentiment, and his clear inability to tell the truth.

Man, if I lived on 5th Avenue, I’d be wearing a bullet proof vest, because shooting someone there is about all he has left.

  8. I’m sure our corporate legacy media will be flooded with op eds calling him unfit to lead and demanding he drop out of the race. Any second now…

    “Is he ok?”
And what must Kristi Noem be thinking? Is sucking up to a demented dork worth it? Dancing like his puppet? Had she any self respect she would have walked off that stage.

DonOLD can’t even hold it together for a simple softball Q&A. He is the most unfit person to EVER run for President.

  11. I’m curious. How did the event end? Did he just sway to the music for almost 40 minutes while they helped the people and then walk off? Or did he return to taking questions afterwards?

And Kristi Noem, the ***governor of South Dakota***, just standing up there with him like “Yeah, this is fine. This is what serious leaders do.”

They gave Trump too many drugs and he just wanted to vibe out to good music and good vibes.

Currently he is in his releases farts and stare into distance era. Its a bonus if he can listen to music while doing so. Its common for men to relax and pass gas.

  16. Not only could he be suffering from some sort of cognitive issues (I mean most likely he is but I’m not qualified to say for sure) but I think we overlook the fact he’s very likely hopped up (and down) on all manner of drugs.

I can picture his handlers doping him up for his appearances and giving him sedatives when he goes bug shit out of the public eye. I imagine he’s a total addict.

I remember when a candidate was hounded for misspelling “potato.”

Forget trying to spell potato, Trump could only recognize one if it was thinly sliced and fried.

Dems are held to a much higher standard than Repubs. We’re now at the point where they get a pass on calling for fascism.

    > “We are up in the polls”

the polls sponsored by the Trump campaign and conducted by right-leaning organizations and the gambling markets Musk declared accurate predictors –

They’re laying the groundwork to contest the results with “we were up in the polls” too bad “the polls” have no bearing on the outcome
