If babies were beheaded, or if they were shot, stabbed or burned alive with the rest of their families, does it change the brutality of what Hamas did on October 7? The author has chosen to not believe the stories of institutional use of sexual violence, even though the UN itself, who never miss an opportunity to criticise itself, admit there is evidence for it.
Facts are important, but presenting facts as disputed when you’re only tinkering at the edges has an outsized effect on people’s psyches too. This doesn’t read like someone trying to get to the truth, it reads like someone trying to distract and downplay the horror of October 7 to suit the narrative they want.
