    This is a wider issue. Volunteers are fantastic and invaluable, but they should be paid for their service, and the ambulance service should be funded properly. Then none of this would matter. imo.

  3. They might want to do an article on quite how few police officers are permitted to drive on blues, that will put this decision in the shade.

  4. The purpose behind police/ambo/fire blue light training is your assessment of risk and doing things safely. Anyone can drive at speed without training. Having formal training for these people definitely isn’t a bad thing, as if they go on to kill someone while responding to a medical incident their whole purpose is somewhat counter-productive.
