According to satellite images studied by Radio Liberty, the territory of the oil depot
in the port of Feodosia, which was hit on the night of October 7, has been covered
by the Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system since the fall of 2022.

“In the pictures you can notice the Pantsir installed on the podium,”
    the publication writes.
Exactly the same and also on podiums to increase the range of target detection were
previously installed on the territory of an oil depot in Tuapse and near other
Russian critical infrastructure facilities, and they were also placed near
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in Novo-Ogarev in the Moscow region,
    the journalists specify.

“Apparently, Pantsir did not help repel the attack,” Radio Liberty concludes,
adding that whether the installation itself was destroyed is not known.
Oil depot in Feodosia caught fire on the night of October 7

A strong fire at an oil depot in Feodosia in annexed Crimea broke out on the night of October 7,
    Igor Tkachenko reported.
“There are no victims or casualties. Work calculations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations,” –
quoted his words then ‘operational headquarters’ of the peninsula.
Powerful explosions in the city occurred around 4.25 am.
After that, a fire and smoke appeared in the area of the oil storage facility,
    local residents told Telegram-channel Shot.
Telegram channel Crimean Wind, citing eyewitnesses, reported that the military airfields of
Saki and Belbek were also attacked that night in Crimea.

The oil depot in Feodosia that was hit by the drones – the Sea Oil Terminal JSC –
is the largest in Crimea in terms of oil products transshipment.
The volume of its tank capacities is 250 thousand cubic meters.
There are a total of two such terminals on the peninsula annexed by Russia.
The second one is located in Sevastopol.

The attacked terminal is located on the eastern outskirts of Feodosia,
near the village of Beregovoye. In March, Ukrainian drones had already attacked this facility.
Then the main pipeline for fuel transfer was damaged.
The same terminal was attacked in December and November 2023.
The AFU General Staff confirmed the strike on the terminal.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) confirmed the strike
on the marine oil terminal in Feodosia, noting that this oil depot is used,
among other things, “to meet the needs of the occupying army of the Russian Federation.”
“The task was carried out by units of the missile forces of the armed forks of Ukraine
in cooperation with other components of the Ukrainian defense forces.
Measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian Federation continue,”
    the AFU said.
