  1. If it is S-70 hydra 70mm, 76 rockets were launched, but if it is S-80 80mm, 80 rockets were launched. Helicopters in Ukrainian aviation usually operate with only two rocket pods. In my opinion they launched Hydra 70, but it’s hard to identify from this distance

How is that not spray and pray? The U.S. used those unguided Hydras in Korea, when their launching aircraft were able to get closer to the action.

  3. I know the A 10’s are getting on a bit now, and are a bit slow….. but they would be perfect here.

And those egg beater jockeys would love them. Send them A 10’s.

  4. These rocket sprays must be the most inaccurate delivery system, requiring the hazarding of very expensive helos. Bring up a Toyota with a bunch of rockets and achieve the same result.

I can’t imagine this is even remotely accurate, at least with artillery you’re in a stable position and (my understanding is) a computer will calculate where and how to aim based on the variables you plug in.

Maybe I just know nothing but helicopter rockets have always seemed like a pretty garbage weapons system in near peer warfare. The cost benefit of firing these inaccurate rockets at relatively close range from a very expensive helicopter in an environment full of manpads or worse just doesn’t seem to add up, especially if the target is a static defence that can easily be hit with artillery.
