A more rapid pivot away from fossil fuels, particularly gas, and serious investment in renewable energy industries would provide the opportunity for economic and geopolitical stability that Europe desperately needs, if leaders have sufficient foresight and courage. The categorization of gas as a ‘transition’ fuel should be reconsidered in light of the geopolitical ramificatons particularly with relation to the middle east conflicts.
