What is actually happening is Russian fire power diminishing, as Ukraine has been burning their ammunition storages. It is being reported that for the first time Ukraine Artillery fire starts to reach the fire amount of Russia, but with the advantage of accuracy. The Russians old soviet weapons storage is getting empty, with new production far from being able to cope with the rates of attrition. With NK defective shells blowing in the barrels and Russia unable to produce new ones without western technology and proper alloys.
Meanwhile Ukraine is now producing 20 Badana self propeled Howitzers per month, and receiving constant batches of Archer, K9, Zuzana, Krab Howitzers from other countries.
This pseudo-news come when Ukraine lost Vuhledar after 30 months of war and Russia sending meatwaves of conscripts with hundreds dying everday just to take a small city already burned to the ground.
Meanwhile Ukraine continues expanding its territorial gains inside Russia.
Sure, for those who don’t follow in detail, Washington Post is nothing more than a tool to influence people into voting against help to Ukraine, calling it pointless as Russia will never lose. Usefull idiots.

Just send in allied Troops already, or it all will have been for nothing. Deploy 800.000 Nato troops at the border to Ukraine (also tanks, helicopters, F35s and so forth), Tell Russia to back out of ALL Ukrainian territories, or prepare to fight Ukraine’s allies(not NATO.

Improved Russian tactics is a bit of a stretch, they are paying dearly for these gains. Russia started attacking Vuhledar back in Jan/Feb of last year and have lost a few helicopters, hundreds of tanks/bmps/btrs, and thousands of men. The Russian 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade was pretty much entirely wiped out.
Side note, the 155th also took heavy losses in the initial invasion losing around half their men by mid march 2022, and lost around 300 men in 4 days in Nov 22 during the Pavlivka assault. Also lost their commander in a HIMARS strike in Feb 2024.
All for a now completely destroyed small town. The ISW said that the Ukrainian defense of Vuhledar prevented a Russian offensive in other areas all summer.
Yes the city is captured and that’s bad, yes Ukraine needs more support, but this was very costly for Russia. Not so much improved Russian tactics, but more like they just threw men at the problem and the Ukrainian troops were exhausted because they hadn’t had a rotation in many months.

More like just superior numbers. They just have more of everything and the tactics are attrition not strategic or smart. And Russian deaths and casualties are horendous. Even if Ukraine loses this war or have to make a compromised retreat and sign off on a ceasefire or deal, they have won this war hands down. Russia can not ever claim victory on an operation that was meant to last 5 days to a three year war with about 600, 000 casualties and a severe loss of face with a depleted and embarrassed military and a larger NATO.

I feel so bad for Europe and Ukraine. It seems Israel has become the new fashion and will be more important than something that is happening at our doorstep.
Putin is probably sprawled on his back with a pacifier and doing happy noises knowing no one cares anymore for the Eastern front.
