“it’s expected to cost the government between 50 and 100 million dollars a year”
why should the taxpayer be slugged by companies who are producing food that isn’t selling? i don’t think yoghurt is an essential staple
there’s no altruism here, i think the reality is they donate it becuase it’ll perish before it sells
i’m all for helping people in need, but 50-100 million a year on a tax break? i’d rather the government chips in say 10-20 million to keep the foodbanks stocked up with essential foodstuffs. that’s a saving to the taxpayer of up to 80 million a year

I remember the days when me and me mates would skateboard out the back of Woollies, doing drops off’s off the loading bay ledge on a Sunday whilst old Ladies would scurrage through the bins getting a free feed to supplement their pensions.
