The first time Trump pointed to the media area and said “they are the enemy of the people”, I would have packed up my cameras and never returned.

What options does the media have?

So long as a fraction of the public buys it, they are stuck.  Even supercuts of Trump acting the complete buffoon are old hat now.

The media are guilty of normalizing Trump’s fascism. His politics are far outside of the normal range of political differences spanning left and right, but most members of the media lack the awareness, desire, or ability to describe Trump’s un-American authoritarianism accurately.

The biggest problem however is that media companies have become addicted to the enormous influx of money they get in presenting Trump as a kind of unbelievably massive, neverending reality TV show. Individual journalists might loath Trump, but the companies they work for love him and the money he brings in.

People still think that if everyone just hears the bad stuff trump says that he’ll lose his following and disappear.

That’s not the reality we live in.

Anyone that doesn’t already think trump is wholly unqualified and a bad human being are okay with the things he says. Many of them like the things he says.

The media showed his rallies IN FULL in 2016. That’s how he got such a huge following to begin with.

70+ million American voters lack the integrity and morality to disavow trump. Pretending that isn’t who they are is a bigger problem than the media coverage of trump’s rallies.

“This is going to get so many clicks” the journalists say, while Republicans hold the gun to their head.

There’s no freedom of press under dictatorial regimes. The press would do well to remember it instead of sugar-coating Trump’s fascistic speech.

The media is doing a great disservice. The only places you can see the entirety of his speech are the far right channels like RSBN and Newsmax. Fox News regularly cuts away from his speeches because it is so batshit insane.

  9. What is sad is read WSJ, NYT, Bloomberg, SF Chronicle and WaPo and each had long stories about Donald that acted like Donald was normal. Outright lies are “misleading or contested”. Bogus and false information is discussed as if should have some bearing. I’ve watched Donald’s recent rallies. Any sorry about them more than a paragraph is the problem. The man is clearly unfit for any position of power and anything other than a blunt statement to that effect is fairy dust.

Actually, everyone sees them. You’re just trying to excuse the naivety of those who follow him. They’re not unaware of what he says, they just don’t care, or they actually agree because MAGAS are real pieces of shit

  11. SNL made a joke on weekend update about Kamala registering illegal aliens to vote. We know that this is going to be the foundation of Trump’s rejection of the election results. Yet it’s played up for laughs on an apparently liberal network. Fuck these fascist enablers.

It’s pretty ~~wild~~ disconcerting to watch his latest rallies and see none of the verbal insanity he spews be featured in the news.

  13. The media needs to cover him like a national disaster or terrorist attack. Grave, serious tone. Emphasize that what he is saying is traitorous, violent, and dangerous. The anchors should look appalled. They should apologize for having to air the footage and make it clear that they’re only doing so in order to bring attention to the abhorrent reality of this man’s hideous rhetoric.

Instead they smile and jokingly say, “Trump had an off day on the campaign trail” while referring to a slight verbal hiccup while ignoring the mental deficiency that only goes away when he’s aggressively insinuating that someone should be killing his political enemies.

Maybe I’m a little off, but… does it sound like he’s trying to obscurely refer to movies as a point of reference to crime lately?

  15. The media was *all over* every single Biden gaffe. Yet not a peep about Trump’s insane and incoherent ramblings, nor the extremism.

Sane washing is a thing for the commercial press. It means we have to work extra hard to save democracy and preserve our freedoms. Donate blue, volunteer blue, and enthusiastically vote blue with friends! 💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸

    >Donald Trump suggested that our country is going to lose our culture if we don’t have mass deportations

good old replacement theory, love to see that racist lie of a talking point
