Trump plans on bankrupting the government with all the tax cuts. Guess the programs taking the biggest hits? If seniors vote for Trump, they’re cutting their own throats.

That will actually be a good thing.

To increase her chances of winning, Kamala should focus on PA, MI, and WI.
However, this is an interesting demographic shift, and we are seeing the Florida polls come in closer that expected. It will be interesting to see how that works out. That said, Harris supporters budget will still likely have a bigger impact elsewhere (PA).

Not surprising considering:
– GOP position is typically toxic toward social security and Medicaid
– Seniors remember when both party nominees actually acted at least vaguely “presidential”

In 2020 polls massively overestimated Biden’s support from seniors. That might have come from liberal seniors staying home due to COVID, but in general I’d say seniors are the biggest reason to be skeptical of the polls.

without seniors what possible demographic could trump have left?

I can only really throw my experience in on this. My grandma has, to my knowledge, always leaned right (center right at the very least). I was recently talking about the news with her and she was disgusted by Trump/Vance’s comments about Haitians and called them assholes. She’s not the type to swear but she did in this case.
I wouldn’t say to extrapolate that to all seniors, but I know she’s not the only one turned off by it.

The seniors now, were in their 40s when gore ran for office, and he won that group. It makes sense they, now in their 60s and 70s, would be voting for Kamala.

If Harris wins the 65+ age group this election won’t be even close. I’m not sure it will happen, but they’re too big and too important for the GOP. Democrats also have an unbroken 20 year track record of absolutely crushing it on among Millenials and Gen Z. I don’t believe for a second any poll that suggests otherwise.

Geezer here, she’s got my vote.
Also don’t forget that a crap ton of older folks took retirement during COVID, and those folks are now super-aware of any threat to Social Security or Medicare, which the Repubs promise to cut. So assuming at least a percentage of those people are paying attention…
