CTV News says it has parted ways with two staff members who manipulated a clip of Pierre Poilievre

So CTV issued an ‘unreserved apology’ as demanded by the Conservatives, but it wasn’t self-deprecating enough and didn’t fall in line with Poilievre’s pre-existing narratives on the media. So he publicly called them out, and ‘blacklisted’ them.

Despite Pierre attempting to dictate the terms of what journalists say as part of their apology (totally disrespectful to our institutions by the way), CTV still attempts to get in his good graces by firing two employees over a small error.

I highly doubt even this drastic action will be enough for Poilievre, and the fact CTV has basically been catering to his every demand is only going to embolden him.

The fact that someone who could potentially be Prime Minister of Canada has escalated this far in his pattern of attacking the media and publicly exacting vendettas against people he feels covers him unfavourably is truly worrying, and will likely have a chilling effect on freedom of the press in Canada.
