This attempt truly pissed me off. I hate the EC with a passion to begin with, but this really just showed how the GOP doesn’t give a shit about voters, just winning.
Also, while I’m *really* glad this failed, understand that, like McCain with Obamacare, this effort to undermine democracy was stopped by one guy. I feel like way too many things representing hundreds of millions of people have come done to one person standing tall lately 🙁

The recent attempt by Republicans to secure all of Nebraska’s electoral votes for Trump was a glaring example of political opportunism at its worst. Nebraska has long been one of the few states that allows a split in electoral votes, giving voters a voice that represents their diverse political views. The GOP, however, aimed to consolidate power by scrapping this system, hoping to hand Trump an easy win in future elections.

McDonnell is a term limited state senator that wants to be mayor of Omaha and is planning on running in 2025. WTA is crazy unpopular in Omaha. If he would have voted yes for this it would have killed his campaign before it even started.

There was 1 holdout out of 33. 1 Republican has *just* enough spine to not rig the election for his dear leader.
It’s scary how close we are to losing our democracy. In another election cycle, all of the Republicans who have been working to save our democracy will be gone and replaced with loyalists.
