I’m with the Haitians on this one, I’d like to see him arrested too, but I’m fairly sure it won’t happen.

  2. They should not let up on this either. Trump isn’t going to let up. The people who are right in the situation should keep the pressure on for once.

    >In Ohio, private citizens can file lawsuits demanding that authorities enforce criminal law. In its lawsuit, the Haitian Bridge Alliance, a group that advocates on behalf of immigrants from Haiti, noted that the Republican presidential ticket has spread lies that have resulted in bomb threats, harassment and the disruption of public services.

    >”Their persistence and relentlessness, even in the face of the governor and the mayor saying this is false — that shows intent,” attorney Subodh Chandra told FOX 8 on Tuesday. “It’s knowing, willful flouting of criminal law.”

“We want the judge to issue arrest warrants for Trump and Vance immediately, there is probable cause,” Chandra said. He added that the U.S. Supreme Court’s immunity ruling will not benefit the former president as he is currently a private citizen.

“The Haitian community is suffering in fear because of Trump and Vance’s relentless, irresponsible, false alarms and public services have been disrupted,” Chandra said in a statement. “Trump and Vance must be held accountable to the rule of law. Anyone else who wreaked havoc the way they did would have been arrested by now.”

    JD Vance’s confession:

    >During an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Vance admitted to spreading the falsehoods that have wreaked such havoc on the Haitian community, saying: “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

  4. Check your voter registration. Only 5 days left! Remind your friends and family, especially if they are in a swing state.

Trump gets all the attention from this pet eating lunacy, while the real danger, Project 2025, is looming unnoticed.

  5. I love this for them! No one should feel unsafe in their own country, especially by people trying to be elected to run the country…

  6. I mean kind of core to the American identity is assimilation. We welcome more immigrants legally than any country on Earth by design. I wouldn’t want us ever to be xenophobic, just sticklers for proper paperwork. Categorizing these people as illegal immigrants when they’re not is detrimental to the immigration system’s function and the value of the status it can convey. It’s vexing and decidedly unAmerican.

  7. I want to donate to this Haitian group they can probably do a better job of getting this idiot behind bars where he belongs

  8. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.salon.com/2024/09/24/we-want-the-to-issue-arrest-warrants-haitian-group-sues-over-vance-smear-campaign/) reduced by 65%. (I’m a bot)

    > "We want the judge to issue arrest warrants for Trump and Vance immediately, there is probable cause," Chandra said.

    > Over 30 bomb threats have been labeled against state and local government buildings and schools in Springfield since Trump and Vance began spreading falsehoods about the roughly 20,000 Haitian immigrants living there.

    > During an interview with CNN's Dana Bash, Vance admitted to spreading the falsehoods that have wreaked such havoc on the Haitian community, saying: "If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do." He has since falsely claimed that the murder rate is rising in Springfield, implying it is due to Haitians; in fact, the murder rate peaked under Trump and no Haitian immigrant in Springfield has ever been charged with homicide.

  9. We need people who are willing to stand up to bullies. MAGA runs of violence, fear, and threats of violence. I understand not everyone has the nerve or ability to stand up to MAGA. But I applaud those that do!

  10. I’ve said elsewhere, but **this might have legs!!**

Under `Ohio Revised Code Section 2935.09`, the procedure heavily favors the Haitians.

Basically, next a judge will hold a hearing with **ONLY** the Haitians+council to present their case/evidence. No Trump/Vance/lawyers.

Then the judge will determine based on what they present whether or not there’s probable cause and either accept/reject/modify the charges.

They are using a novel approach to compel the state to act, even though state prosecutors are afraid, don’t want to charge, and don’t want to appear political.

This gives the state prosecutors **COVER** too for their actions. They’re going to say *”we have no choice but to charge.”*

  11. Everyone who tRump slanders should start filing lawsuits against him for slander, libel, and defamation of character. The precedent is already there with the E Jean Carroll case.

  12. This will be their first taste of how it actually works in this country. As the good Mr. Carlin put it… it’s a big club, and you ain’t in it.

  13. I’m glad someone is finally confronting his malfeasance in the courtroom. The justice system and rule of law will prevail right
