300 ha for a huge fuck off wind farm is nothing (most of which is unlikely to get cleared anyway – they just need access to the sites).
There are at least 5 million ha of old growth forest in Australia. At least.
This is a storm in a teacup. Good environmental policy is not about protecting every tree and every sugar glider. It is about ensuring that trees and sugar gliders in general are protected as much as possible given the competing demands of land use.

They’ve obviously decided that the value added by the wind farm is greater than the damage caused to habitat. Global warming is an extreme danger to animals, especially endangered ones.
