I am Australian, as of 3 years ago last week; I grew up in Canada and moved here 9 years ago. I’ve always been confused as to why Australia has a red, white and blue flag, yet its national colours are Green and Gold.
Canada got rid of its red ensign flag over 60 years ago, because we were our own country, and didn’t want the Union Jack on our flag; and they haven’t looked back. Our national flag is our national colours and the Maple Leaf has become our most iconic national symbol.
I came across the Golden Wattle flag, and thought it was a perfect flag from Australia to adopt; no more confusion as to why the flag is blue, but our athletes wear green and gold. It’s simple, yet incorporates Australian iconography
Keen to get born and raised Australian’s take on the flag, and if other Australians like the current flag, dislike it or if they just don’t care enough to change it?

Nationalism is akin to racism.
But yeah, get rid the union jack. Nobody likes the king.
