  1. > In another 2018 Facebook Live video uncovered by The Bulwark, Robinson said the onus was on black people to behave better around police.
    >
    > “The whole ‘I’m afraid of the police’ thing, that’s people’s way of, number one, trying to give an excuse while they’re acting the fool during the traffic stop,” Robinson said. “And they want to act the fool during the traffic stop hoping that a policeman will get angry at them and hit them in the head with a nightstick and then they can go to court and have them a good lawsuit.”
    >
    > Robinson went on to lambaste black people who support police reform. “You’re a coward, you’re a liar, and you’re spitting in the face of your ancestors,” he said. “Because your ancestors never would have been so foolish.”

  2. Racist Republicans have been saying that kind of stuff for years, so it’s not surprising that they’re cultivating people like Mark Robinson to go out and say it for them.

  3. Black Nazi Jim Crow apologists. Trump definitely always has “a type”.

    >In the same 2020 speech, obtained by The Bulwark, Robinson celebrated black slaves who kept their “rags” clean and patiently took whippings from their overseers. “I can even imagine some of them with their slave chains on, the rags they had on. They made sure those rags were as clean as could be. And they stood up and stiffened up their backs,” Robinson said. “They saw what was coming down in the pike. And they only knew that it would come if they took those stripes and took those beats.”

Yeah they saw how awesome Jim Crow was going to be, huh?

    This dude is ga-ross

  4. “You know my words, you know my character, and you know that I have been completely TRANSparent in this race and before”

  5. Speaking of slaves, who would make a better slave for Jesse Waters (you know, since Robinson wants to bring it back but doesn’t realize he’s black)? Robinson or Herschel Walker?

Walker’s got the speed and could probably pick more cotton in a shorter amount of time of time, but Robinson is a big, strong buck who could probably carry more bales. Let’s do the math.

  6. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.thebulwark.com/p/mark-robinson-black-americans-jim-crow) reduced by 88%. (I’m a bot)

    > "During Jim Crow, you can go back and you can look at it and the record will show you, that's when black folks were at their highest in this country," Robinson said in a speech in 2020.

    > The comments from Robinson were delivered in a September 2020 speech to BLEXIT, a political group founded by conservative provocateur Candace Owens and run in partnership with the conservative youth political group Turning Point USA. They are among the more notable examples of Robinson, who is black, either celebrating the historical degradation of black Americans or maligning contemporary black Americans.

    > BEYOND CELEBRATING JIM CROW'S EFFECT on black people, and using anti-black slurs towards prominent black individuals, Robinson also previously criticized the police-reform movement that many black Americans embrace.

  7. Has no one told him that ‘black jobs’ now includes AG, POTUS, Governor.

In fact, the job Mark was applying for was not a ‘black jobs’ during Jim Crow

He seems to long for a time when his Rhite Whinge friends could keep Robinson and ‘his sort’ in the gutter

  8. the more that comes out, the more i think the posts are definitely his. the man is actually insane.

    >“Mein Kampf is a good read,” the user, dubbed “minisoldr,” wrote in a thread seeking book recommendations. “It’s very informative and not at all what I thought it would be. It’s a real eye opener.” The book, an autobiography by Hitler, casts Jews as an “eternal parasite.”

    >The Nude Africa user minisoldr also wrote extensively and in graphic detail about having extramarital sex with his wife’s sister. Politico reported Thursday that the same email Robinson used on the porn site was registered on Ashley Madison, a website used for extramarital affairs. Lonergan told Politico that Robinson denies having an Ashley Madison account and did not respond to The Post on Friday when asked if Robinson denies having an affair with his sister-in-law.

    # Porn site user linked to Mark Robinson also praised Hitler’s Mein Kampf

  9. Can someone explain to me what appears to be this man’s self-loathing of his ethnicity?

    I do not understand.

  10. I thought they were at their highest during slavery, Mark, why aren’t you continuing that narrative?

  11. >“During Jim Crow, you can go back and you can look at it and the record will show you, that’s when black folks were at their highest in this country,” Robinson said in a speech in 2020.

That’s awfully similar to the “Black people benefited from slavery” rhetoric that people (including state governments) have been pushing for a while now.

Like sure, the whole speech he was giving when he said that was about Black people persevering through absolutely horrendous conditions and a lot of that was through what little culture and community they managed to have. But that sure doesn’t mean that by trying to help people now, and provide them with opportunity, in any way weakens people. Because relying on “strength and faith” (his words) sure hasn’t done much in the way of equity over the past many decades and “strength and faith” aren’t what got us the 13th, 14, and 15th amendments.

  12. This is GOP orthodoxy:

“Prior to the Civil Rights Era, black folks were happier, and better off overall because they had a well defined place in the American social hierarchy which necessitated conforming with values and behaviors approved by white folks. The occasional lynching was just acceptable collateral damage. As proof, we note that the structure of black families was stronger during this time.”

This is part of what they mean by “Make America Great Again”

    Vote accordingly

  13. And here I was thinking the “some people need killing” statement would be the worst thing he was shown to have stated.

  14. Funny thing – I knew he was a nightmare because Governor Cooper took himself out of the running for VP. Anytime Coop leaves the state, Robinson is in charge.

  15. whatlineisitanyway on

The crazy thing is I’m skeptical that even this last week will move the polls in the state much if at all..

  16. I find it truly fascinating how someone who, I assume, knows of all of the disgusting and bizarre things they’ve said and done in the not-so-distant past, would willingly throw themselves into a position of constant public spotlight and accountability. It really must be a combination of unfathomable narcissism, brazen stupidity, and staunch belief of “it can’t happen to me” that allows them to go through with such poor decisions like this. Perhaps it’s the fact that he’s already made it so far which gives him confidence.

  17. Yeah Robinson?? How many black people were running for governor during Jim Crow? Count them, we’ll wait.
