> After the federal Liberals lost byelections in Toronto and Montreal, new polling data shows that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his party are deeply unpopular in other major Canadian cities, too.
> The survey, conducted by Maru Public Opinion for CityNews, found that only 21 per cent of respondents in four of Canada’s largest metro areas believe Justin Trudeau and his party deserve to be re-elected in the next election.

I called this over a year ago. Given the spike in housing costs and the massive round of inflation we had the next election was going to be entirely fought on shelter costs and cost of living. Everything else is going to be a secondary or non-existent issue.
Unsurprisingly the Liberals are getting killed anywhere shelter costs and cost of living has spiked it doesn’t matter how safe those ridings previously were.
The only out the Liberals had a few years back was to get housing costs down in a controlled manor. They completely failed at that. So the last remaining option they had this year to get shelter costs down before he election was to basically crash the market. They’ve instead opted to backstop market prices. So they are trapped with no way out now and message control is not going to cut it this time.

How difficult is it to change the tone and start working on
– bail reforms, additional judges etc
– fix Montreal port to stop car thefts
– significantly clamp down on international students
– make mortgage interest tax deductible for.primary homes

If he chooses to openly work with the bloc, it will only hurt him further
People are more favourable of the nation wide NDP than the bloc who couldn’t care less about Canada. The only people who will be truly happy with it, are the hard core liberal voters who only see this as hanging on to power

IMO Trudeau is the fall guy. Politicians don’t run the country, their donors do. Both major parties want immigration. Poilievre won’t commit to a moratorium and will still commit to the same defense spending. He’ll increase productivity and squeeze efficiency. At the end, corporations and banks will win. Canadians are too dumb to do anything
