Sorry but you can’t me too people in Egypt lol. No matter how much it infuriates reddit. It’s rough there.

  2. Not all countries have progressed as far as the U.S. toward being gender respectful…and still not everywhere in the U.S.

  3. Its Egypt. Yes it sucks, A LOT, but if you know anything about the country you are going to visit then you should know their views about women, children, religion, etc..

Yes she doesn’t look like the typical girly girl but to think that would make those pervert/bigots automatically assume she is a he is daunting. Every excuse to be nasty I guess…

She is the victim and just wish the parents would have read a bit more about the country since, unfortunately, its known for less than positive interactions with foreign women (and nationals as well).

  4. This is of course horrible as is; but I’m also super concerned if she had actually been transgender or intersex. (It does occur naturally though is rare).

Would she have been detained? Separated from her parents?

    Pretty scary.

  5. I’ve seen a fair share of bad stories about tourism in Egypt, doesn’t look like a tourist friendly country at all, a shame really.

  6. Add this to the list of travel horror stories in Egypt. Which there seems to be no shortage of.

  7. WTF is wrong with Egypt? So what if she is a girl or a boy. She is flying in a plane that does not know and does not care. It makes no difference.

    Avoid Egypt at all cost.

  8. Seems like there should be an easier way to verify a passport. It’s not like women having short hair is a new thing.

Stop going to third world countries. It’s not as rosy as the social media makes you believe.

  10. Don’t go to sandy places. Don’t go to China. Don’t go to Russia. Don’t go to south America.

Follow those rules and you won’t wind up in a headline.
