Ignoring questions about how this can possibly be implemented effectively, as someone who has worked in the education system I like that this will mean messaging and expectations around social media use will be more clearly defined and standardised between institutions.

I do not agree with this out of ideology, I agree with this because of the negative psychological impact of social media on people who are not ready to face it.
Children start life only knowing their family and extended family, then they get old enough to be friends with the neighbors’ children, then they go to kindergarten, increasing the number of people they know, then the neighborhood’s school, then day camp and summer camp.
Teens start having friends who do not necessarily reside in the neighborhood, through social media and video games they make friends with people not necessarily in their city or State or country and they make a girlfriend/boyfriend.
As they grow up they meet people at work, coworker, customers and, eventually the wider world…
**Each step is one where people from baby to adult increase their knowledge of the vast field of human relations, each incremental step is critical and social media used too young short-circuits this gradual process.**
