Supposed Russian conscripts captured in Kursk

  1. Worth mentioning what this means. Conscripts, for the most part, are supposed to be non-involved in front line action. There’s confusion of how the Russian military is organized.

Russia still uses conscription, typically of kids right out of highschool. Once your conscription is fulfilled, you return to civilian life but remain on the roster for mobilization. This is what we saw earlier in the war, where people who haven’t served in years/decades were issued summons and thrown into the grinder. The mobilized have largely thinned out and the majority of the fighting is done by contract volunteers, being paid large sums of money to fight with large signing bonuses.

Young conscripts are purposely kept away from the fighting as a domestic political policy to insulate the Russian public (in a sense) from the fighting. When young kids who have no choice start coming home in coffins, public opinion can start to change like the US saw in Vietnam.

If I’m not mistaken, isn’t Ukraine having more than enough problems holding back the front line??
These little side missions seem like a waste of resources and more importantly, manpower that could be used to reinforce the front.
I already saw videos of them rolling in with 6-7 Strykers and supposedly some getting lit up……
I don’t know, just not a good look.

Every single captured russian soldier, conscript or not, reduce the number of killed ukrainian cilvilians and soldiers. Слава Україні
