Good, I’m glad anger is being directed at the power provider. It was after all “only” a Cat 1 in a part of the country accustomed to hurricanes (even if one is a climate change denier, one cannot deny that Houston, Texas and the entire Gulf coast experiences hurricanes periodically). Presumably the utility has put profits and payouts to C-suite and shareholders above maintenance and preventing outages, taking the “fingers crossed” approach to getting away with it for another year.

Another failure on behalf of Republican leadership.

I mean, when “weak” Beryl hit Michigan and dropped 5″ per second that all came into my basement, it sucks.
But I never lost power so there’s that.

Time to invest in residential solar + battery backup. Take your power back people.

Going on 4 days with no power here on the east side of Houston, in the middle of summer, haven’t seen a centerpoint truck this whole time. Still more than 1 million homes without power

Centerpoint is a problem, but the biggest problem in Texas is the state government. They really let Houston down. The governor is in Japan for some reason and the lieutenant governor is just an asshole

Massive fines for every power outage (scaled to its size and duration) is the cure.
