  1. Surprise, surprise. He’s finally seen the light and going to hydrogen ‘fool cells’.

He’s hit a wall of running out of customers for his go-fast cars that are more expensive and less convenient.

Or maybe he’s hit a wall of people willing to give him money given his political proclivities.

Or maybe they see resource constraints. Or maybe they finally recognized the practicality of a fuel cell vehicle with 50 miles of battery range that covers 90% of all driving, but allows rapid refilling for long trips without cold weather range degradation.

If you don’t understand why the “twice as much energy to fuel with hydrogen” meme doesn’t really apply, see [this comment where I went through the math.](https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/17yxqs4/comment/k9xw2x7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

But it’s going to usher in an era of hydrogen vehicles, and with Musk behind building out a hydrogen fueling infrastructure, it will be nothing but good news for fuel cell companies.
