China is running into a “good” problem in that they’re starting to generate too much power from solar. They need better transmission infrastructure and more batteries. They’ll also probably be well-served with apps/alerts letting people know when the ideal time to charge EVs and other electronics is.

But economic uncertainty and electricity pricing changes are also having an impact. Overall an interesting article.

  2. The real story is that over 50 GW was installed in China in December 2023. Remarkable.

China has overcome this bottleneck in the past with headlines being about slow integration. This time it will be battery storage that fixes things.
