Submission Statement: Russia has recently intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, destroying multiple power plants and damaging natural gas storage facilities, which has left much of the country without electricity and in an increasingly difficult situation as winter approaches. This strategic targeting is having serious economic consequences by hindering reconstruction efforts and risking further inflation rises. Unless Ukraine receives increased support from Western allies to defend itself and repair the damage, it may struggle to withstand Russia’s new approach of making the country unlivable through energy deprivation.
