It’s a handout to farmers. Cover that same amount of land with solar panels and I think you could supply 100% of the electricity demand of the U.S.
Solar panels are 20%+ efficient at turning sunlight into energy, about 40 times more efficient than plants and that’s not counting the cost of converting from plant to fuel.
