Why “my country only emits 1% of emissions” is a lame excuse for rich countries to not tackle climate change

  1. Rich countries are tackling climate change by pioneering the use of technologies that will replace fossil fuels. Most developed countries have targets to de-carbonise and in doing so will create the market for the development of solar, wind, battery, EV, heatpump etc that they poorer countries can then adopt without paying the upfront cost.

I’d rather do this than fund an aid program with no accountability for spending and find a decade later that the money all ended up in the bank accounts of some politicians and there families and that nothing of use was built.
