I found an apartment on Facebook marketplace place that a resort is renting out. I emailed the guy about it and he informed me I need to make payment through “booking” to view and take the apartment. I don’t know what “booking” is and hasn’t sent URL. Paying upfront like this seems a little sketch . But maybe I’m overreacting?

Yeah, I’m not paying anything unless I see the place first lol
Dude, this is wrong on so many levels. Don’t pay a thing.

Booking as the booking.com? I would never pay before viewing for sure. It sounds like a scam or at least something very dodgy. Will you even get a refund if you don’t sign or will the company argue you made a booking and didn’t show up or something?
Clear scam. Clearly written by somebody who hasn’t spent a single minute engaging in Australia’s rental market.
If you pay 2 month’s rent before seeing a place or signing anything you’ll get what you deserve.
