New data shows electric vehicle batteries can now last more than 20 years — and they could even outlast the usable life of the car. Not only can they now last over two decades, but EV batteries are also being innovated to use the most abundant, cost-effective, and eco-conscious materials possible.

“EV batteries are also being innovated to use the most abundant, cost-effective, and eco-conscious materials possible.”

So likely made of materials that are neither abundant nor eco-conscious but likely cost-effective because that’s what’s possible? This is textbook greenwashing.

  2. Can we focus on recycling the batteries than how long they last? If the battery lasts longer than the car but cannot be repurposed then we are wasting it.
