    Putting aside a lot of reservations I have about any legal policing of information in political campaigns, the examples given in the article are exclusively cases where a party lied about the policies *of another party*.

    If such laws were to ever be introduced, unordered to be consistent they would need equally equally apply to lies about your *own* party.

    For example they cite the LNP’s campaign about them introducing a death tax.

    To be consistent, if Labor said they wouldn’t remove stage three tax cuts, if they do then they have provided misleading information about their own policy. That shouldn’t be treated differently.
