Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is closing in on the purchase of a $4.3 million property described by its selling agents as “clifftop perfection” in the NSW Central Coast.

Property records show that the four-bedroom, three-bathroom, and three-carport property in Copacabana was sold in September for an undisclosed price.

But 2GB presenter Ben Fordham, who first reported the story, said on air it went for $4.3 million, less than the $4.65 million its previous owners bought it for in 2021.

In a statement from the prime minister’s office, a spokeswoman said Albanese and his fiancee Jodie Haydon had been planning to buy a home on the Central Coast for some time.

“The prime minister and Jodie are getting married next year and are planning to buy a home together on the Central Coast where Jodie grew up and three generations of her family live,” the spokeswoman said. “When the process is complete it will be declared on the parliamentary register.”

In a statement to Fordham, Albanese said the purchase of the property was about a new chapter with Haydon. “I’m about to get married to Jodie and start a new chapter of our lives. Jodie’s a Coastie, and spending time there is awesome,” Albanese said.

The home has timber-lined “cathedral ceilings” above open-plan living spaces that open up to ocean views. The listing describes it as a “premiere location to enjoy sun, whale watching or spectacular sunsets year-round”.

Views of the sea are also accessible from the master bedroom, which also has a walk through ensuite.

The property also has a north-facing entertaining deck, a large downstairs guest room with a bathroom, a low maintenance garden of tropical, native and salt tolerant species and a double garage with internal access and off-street parking with a turning bay.

In May, Albanese listed his Dulwich Hill investment property in inner west Sydney for sale and on Friday made a last-minute decision to pull the house from auction. His agents are instead negotiating with a single interested buyer. The price guide for the three bedroom, two bathroom townhouse is listed at $1.85 million.

  2. Good luck to him. While there are some gorgeous properties on the Central Coast, the problem is the majority of the population there are complete bogans.

  3. You don’t need to look any further to see how right leaning our media is with the beat up over essentially a story about a man buying a home

  4. Hard hitting journalism right there.

Amazing how much research is done and figures can be found when these guys actually care about reporting something properly.

Well done to the team that made all this effort. I’m sure they’re all giving themselves a pat on the back.
