When I was a little kid I had this boy in my class. His name was Selim. The teachers just told us that he escaped Chechen war and we should be nice. I was happy bc I spoke Russian as my second native language and looked forward to speak it with someone.
You could see the terror and the sadness in his eyes. He was a very quite boy. Years later, when I was an adult already, I heard about what was going on in Chechenia back then. To this day I wonder how he’s doing, where he is and if he was able to somewhat cope.
