My childhood cat went missing one day, years ago, of course. After several weeks, we gave up looking and just hope she would come back. The police came to our door one day and said they had found our cat (she was tagged, tattoo’d and had a collar). She was cut in half. There were more in the general area. They never found the person responsible.

Sadly these people are probably going to get a slap on the wrist.
Crimes against animals rarely have serious punishments in Canada, and usually end up with suspended sentences and a ‘restriction’ to owning animals.
I’m hoping I’m wrong with this time.
