  1. This makes me sick. 60% of the revenue our district gets goes to pay crazy retirement benefits. Only 40% is used on education. The entire system is broken. Teachers Union has failed the education of our children.

  2. This chart can be misleading, if you had 1 administrative staff in the past and went to 100, but you had a 1000 teachers and went to 1100, you increased 10000% the staff and 10% the teachers. You need absolute numbers to reason about things and not just numbers because they also don’t show the full picture.

This is a attempt of oversimplification to criticize without having a good arguments.

  3. What is the overall cost of these administrators? We need hard numbers and which positions are being filled.

  4. Is the administrative staff comprised of intervention specialists, counselors, SROs, social workers, speech therapists, multilingual staff, etc? Look how this overlaps with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Many of these hires were to keep teachers teaching and not wearing a bunch of hats. Also, schools are forced to teach a lot of topics no longer learned at home… like basic decency.

  5. So I was an IT support AID for a school District. I worked at the Highschool. 700 students plus like 150 faculty. I was 1/2 Support staff for the entire building. All 1st level tech issues.

Teachers started at 65k. most were making close to 100k after tenor and they got their masters. Administrative was making double that. Sometimes Triple

IT Support/Aides/ Cafeteria Help Got the lowest. I made 32k annually. In HOCL Long Island New york.

My parents house is in the district i work for too. They pay 7k a year in school taxes. 1 acre land 2k sq ft home

Id love to know where the money goes. I left after 8 months got another IT job at a hospital and make 65k now. Doing less work.

1 administrative stuff became 2 is 100% growth. Likewise 100 teachers became 110 is 110%. This chart is useless without more context and absolute numbers behind each categories.
