North Korea has accused South Korea of flying drones “filled with heinous slander” into its capital city.

The North Korean foreign ministry said the drones carrying anti-regime propaganda had violated its airspace three times in recent weeks, warning it would respond with “all means of attacks” if the incursions continued.

Citing the North’s foreign ministry, the official Korean Central News Agency reported Friday that the South had sent drones into the Pyongyang airspace on Oct 3, and then again on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Pyongyang said the alleged incursion was an “irresponsible and dangerous” provocation that could lead to “armed conflict and even war”.

“This incursion into our airspace is a serious crime that violates our sovereignty,” the North’s foreign ministry said. “South Korea has chosen its own destruction. It is hastening its downfall.”

South Korea denied sending the drones and said it would review whether the propaganda leaflets were sent by private organisations.

“We have not done that. I am not aware of the situation,” Kim Yong-hyun, South Korea’s defence minister said on Friday, according to local reports.

It comes as relations between the two Koreas are at one of their lowest points in years, with Kim Jong Un declaring South Korea his country’s “principal enemy” earlier this year.

Despite official efforts to prevent them, South Korean activists have for years flown balloons containing propaganda leaflets and US dollars over the border, a tactic which infuriates Pyongyang.

In response, Pyongyang has sent thousands of balloons filled with rubbish and paper waste into South Korea. Seoul, in turn, broadcast propaganda and K-pop music across the border through loudspeakers.

Yonhap reported that Pyongyang was sending a fresh round of trash-carrying balloons late Friday.

The Friday KCNA statement comes days after the North’s army said it would “permanently shut off and block the southern border” with South Korea.

The North has also ramped up weapons tests and repeatedly issued threats against the South in recent months.

Seoul warned that it would not tolerate any attempt to alter the status quo and would “overwhelmingly punish” Pyongyang if it initiates any provocation.

To counter the heightened military activity in the North, Seoul has increased the frequency of joint military exercises with the United States, its main defence partner.

  2. Lmao North Korea is gonna realize South Korea has an army of drones that can coordinate clever propaganda back. SK could literally fly an army of drones to NK and perform a drone show that would blow their citizens minds haha.

  3. Maybe they should just dump garbage and human shit, apparently that’s more acceptable to NK

  4. Maybe if they respond to words with violence, they will show the world how peaceful and nonviolent they are.

Damn Americans and their Puppets, forcing their hand by supplying them with… Ideas. Clearly bombs are the answer. /S

  5. Go take a hike, fat Kim.

More hygienic than garbage balloon that North didn’t seem to mind sending it to South.

  6. In retaliation to [North Korea dropping literal bags of trash on South Korea](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4nn2p32zrzo).

The two had an agreement to not drop propaganda on each other, until North Korea started flinging their filth over the wall. [South Korea warned them they were going to restart propaganda drops](https://www.npr.org/2024/06/09/g-s1-3621/south-korea-to-restart-loudspeaker-broadcasts-into-north-to-combat-trash-balloons) in June in retaliation to North Korea’s garbage balloons.

Don’t like it North Korea? Then don’t throw your shit at South Korea.

Play stupid games? Win stupid prizes.

  7. Propaganda like “we have jobs, no secret police, no public executions, and grocery stores”
