I hope this revelation takes front and center stage in the remaining days of this campaign.
It highlights a major side effect of having a party in government that misleadingly packages itself as the party for everyone, while it massively favors the rich over the less well off.

I’m not saying the Louisiana Charity hospital system was great, but I’d love to know if there’s before/after analysis of health outcomes since Jindal dismantled it.

I mean, think of all of the people who died from COVID following the health expertise of a Republican president.

Fueling your every being with hate, fear, irrational paranoia and negativity can take a toll on the body. Also MAGA people are anti-vaccine and generally don’t trust doctors or science. Rich conservatives, however, probably don’t fit into this category as their conservative values are mostly economical.

No shit. They also have the highest rates of obesity, infant mortality, preventable diseases, & lowest lifespans… along with being the poorest & least educated.

Is anyone shocked by this? They tend to rank quite low in most metrics.

…by design. Keep them sick, keep them dumb, keep them under the weight of hardship so they never have time to learn any different.

No surprise there. The surprise is that their ignoramus voters keep voting for them when they do absolutely nothing to help their constituents live healthier lives inc. subsidized health insurance, food benefits for the poor, etc.

There is a cultural ideology among right wing conservative leaning populations that have a distrust with authority figures and that includes science and healthcare. This existed before the pandemic. Many of these individuals are very much in belief that crystals and cinnamon will cure their cancer, diabetes, whatever. Naturopathy is very prevalent among these groups. Politics only partially explains this but the culture and beliefs are strong factors in healthcare avoidance and preventative behaviour leading to poor health outcomes. That said, education and health outcomes are a pretty linear relationship at least up to a certain age range. The uneducated working populations within the right wing sphere are far more likely to engage in risky behaviour because “the government can’t tell me what to do”.

Ring it loud and clear for all. This isn’t the first time studies have shown this and it’s getting worse for red states. They want to get a divorce? Forget about alimony….
