Spirit Airlines announced losses of $159 million in the second quarter of this year and is now exploring Chapter 11 bankruptcy options, according to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal. Southwest, the world’s fourth largest airline, announced in July that its profits had fallen by 46 percent in the year’s second quarter.
