It’s okay, it seems there’s no requirement to renounce citizenship of another country to start a political party
Payman chose October 2021to renounce her Afghan citizenship, the US pulled out 30th August 2021 which resulted in a staffing issue.
Payman then complained that no one was available in Kabul to process her renunciation
She sought legal advice at the time and her lawyers confirmed she did everything she could to renounce.
Has Payman tried to renounce her citizenship of Afghanistan since then?
Why has this question not been pushed in Parliament? Does our constitution not mean anything?

“Several First Nations leaders involved in the Yes campaign for a First Nations Voice in the recent referendum have privately expressed frustration with the use of the word “Voice” by the party, saying permission was not sought”
Seriously? Now people have to ask first nations if they want to use the word voice ?
Anyhoo , looks like I may have found a new last preference.

Interesting to see what it becomes.
Seems like she’s selling it as a bloc who are aligned in values generally but are not forced to vote in line with any specific party policy.

She said she wanted a more practical alternative to the greens (which is mostly covered by Labor already). I’m struggling to see how this wont just be a pro-Palestine party that is conservative on LGBT and environmental issues, which is the core of the Greens platform.

IMO, I think she’s doing what is most likely a Labor left party clone in probably aiming for the policy spot between Labor and Greens. But of course, her Gaza policy will likely be there. Good luck to that.

Which came from Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/oct/09/fatima-payman-launches-new-party-accusing-labor-and-coalition-of-stranglehold-over-our-democracy
Trust ABC to shill for the major parties in making potential new party competition look like an idiot with no policies.
