Should you need a permit to protest? Here’s why that’s a bad idea (and might be unlawful)

    So my understanding that a permit to protest is basically a suspension of civil order laws allowing you to block traffic as an example.

    Without the permit you could be charged for the laws as normal.

    If it’s applied for more than 7 days out from the protest date the pnis is on the police commissioner to prove that the protest is a public risk so it’s almost given by default.

    You definitely need a permit to close roads. And for a crowd that big, I’d really hope the organisers sorted out toilets too.

    I’m all for protesting and no one is stopping them. The injustices make me want to cry/scream.

    But they have been having a major rally/protest nearly every weekend for the past year. When is it enough? I don’t think it’s working.
