  1. Can we for once stop using the whole “they changed their stance/opinion” as a dig? Everyone changes their stance on most issues as time goes on and their experiences change, politicians including. If it is done in good faith, then I see no issue with it. Like in this interview Kamala explained that she had changed her stance on issues because she has gotten a better understanding of the diverse views across America and gotten a better idea of what is attainable. There is definitely room to criticize Kamala, much like all other politicians, but I think it isn’t fair to criticize her on something that happens to literally everyone.

And to the people that will argue that she is going back on her more progressive policies and therefore a liar/traitor. It might not be 2 steps forward, but it is still one step forward (and actually reasonably attainable). I’d rather have someone in office putting us one step forward rather than 10 steps back.

  2. Trump is weak.

Plain and simple.  He is a con man running out of room.

Oh please don’t fact check me.

He is a thrashing animal clawing at the last bit of freedom as the cage doors slowly close on them.

  3. It makes sense to me that she would deflect about some of those questions. I think we all know the border situation wasn’t ideal in the first two years of the Biden administration and I think we all know they have been dealing with congressional Republicans all along who are not interestested in anything but taking back power. I think we all know that this election is like every presidential election in history: how much of her agenda she’s able to accomplish depends on whether we give her a Congress that is actually interested in solving problems.

I think she is wise to not promise support for Ukraine NATO membership without hearing what NATO delegates have to say about it.

Unlike the former liar-in-chief, she’s not about to say things for the sole purpose of garnering votes – things she has no intention of doing. How often did we hear about the wall that would get built, that Mexico would pay for, that would solve all our border problems? (Yeah, right.) How many times did we hear about that fabulous health care plan that would replace the ACA – the plan that never happened, the plan that is, apparently, “concepts of a plan” but that he shouldn’t have to flesh out because he’ not president yet? Why is that argument okay for him and not for her?

And how is it that people are okay with him refusing to go on 60 Minutes because they fact check everything? We actively want presidential candidates to be able to lie through their teeh and if anyone calls them on it, they’re biased?

  4. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/harris-undergoes-60-minutes-grilling-trump-sits-rcna174415) reduced by 90%. (I’m a bot)

    > Vice President Kamala Harris for weeks was criticized for avoiding tough questions that came with long-form traditional media interviews.

    > "It's a long-standing problem, and solutions are at hand, and from day one, literally, we have been offering solutions," Harris said, pointing to an early attempt to advocate for an immigration bill in Congress.

    > Whitaker, who noted that the border security issue had been ongoing for decades, tried twice more to pin Harris down.

  5. The voice over and commentary in that interview was awful and shouldn’t have been a thing. Just post the damn raw interview with no edits.

  6. Over in that ‘one’ subreddit, they say Harris is completely nonsensical, unintelligible, and that she can’t speak a complete sentence or thought. I honestly cannot understand how they feel Trump is capable of those things after all the word salad.

  7. Wow… make it sound like a torture session for Harris while sanewashing the moral degenerate. Bad form NBC.

  8. Republicans have successfully controlled the narrative on immigration to the point where a majority of this country would probably vote to expel every immigrant, legal or not.

    That is disgusting.

Our problem with immigration is that we do not allow enough legal immigration. We only allow about 750,000 legal immigrants a year, and almost all the slots are filled with direct relatives of citizens. This is because as a country, we have been conditioned to see any immigrant as stealing from “real Americans” – though the only “real Americans” have been pushed onto reservations. People can’t see that the greatest strength of the USA has been its ability to accept immigrants and to willingly integrate them into our country, to teach them what it means to be an American, recognizing that **they all want to be Americans**.

Immigrants are not simultaneously a drain and also job-stealers. And while it is possible to find bad people in any group, decrying the group because of a handful of bad people (a smaller handful than actual citizens, I might add) is just plain wrong.

Sadly, Democrats will not stand up tall for immigrants. So Trump wins either way.

And Trump posted that this was the WORST interview in the history of television. Meanwhile he was afraid to be interviewed. Somehow his cult members buy this. SMH.

  10. There was a children’s book series my brother loved called Harold and the Purple Crayon. Harold could draw something with his purple crayon and it would become real. Trump thinks he can do that through his voice. If he says something it becomes true. He gets trounced in the debate. Nope. All the polls said he won bigly and it was his best debate ever. He didn’t lose in 2020, he won. Harris’s interview on 60 Minutes was “a disaster”. Three days after Helene, the FEMA response is the worst ever and its all Harris’s fault. Trump’s magic voice creates reality.

  11. Tommy__want__wingy on

Trump didn’t want to do it because he didn’t want to be fact checked.

When that’s what they always do.

And he wanted an apology for something that wasn’t stated in his 2020 interview.

  12. Emergency_Property_2 on

If we give Harris a Democratic Congress then they’d better pass her agenda, starting with either restoring the filibuster to its original form or eliminating it entirely or they should face being primaried

If they do pass her agenda, tax the rich and help Americans the Republicans will be cast to the wilderness for decades.

  13. Is there a full, unedited version of the interview? The version on YouTube is heavily edited with voice over while she’s answering the damn questions.
