It kind of is, but only because Trump and many of his supporters are so committed to this lie. If they weren’t committed to the lie, then it would be the easiest and least offensive question of all time.

hes right. It’s 100% a gotcha question. it is, quite possibly right now, the easiest question to ask to immediately weed out insanity. he didnt answer the question. we got him. simple as that.

It’s only a gotcha question if you are planning on lying and being intellectually dishonest about it because you know that telling the truth will harm your political career and will cause a mob of deranged people to threaten you, but you know people watching you lie will be able to use that against you and… oh.

  4. Trump and MAGA have irreparably harmed this country, and I don’t know if I’ll see it recover in my lifetime. I hate him so much for this.

  5. Only because the truth will only get him death threats from his own side of the aisle. Mike lives in terror of waking up late at night to find a cro-magnon creature, standing over him with a club, babbling something about space lasers.

Yes, but what makes it a gotcha is how exceedingly easy it *should* be to answer and move on. If the gotcha is a question like “Who was the first president of the United States?” and your answer is “I think people are tired of that debate” or “Look, the Harris administration has opened the borders and…” or anything except “George Washington,” that’s the gotcha.

  7. I guess the larger concern for me is the elephant in the room: what do we do if the worst happens & Trump wins?

These supporters + lunatics like Johnson and DeSantis and MTG are going to become even more emboldened & unhinged, and I don’t know what ‘we’ as those on the side of sanity are going to do.

Will it be every man/woman for themselves? Are we going to stick together and help each other?

I want to feel good about this outcome but right now I’ve been having a lot of anxiety about this. I really hope we don’t just ditch each other and isolate if he does win, and that’s what 2016 felt like.

I think we need to talk about this.

Does this guy possess the cognitive capacity to realize how badly he embarrasses himself every time he speaks?

Kind of like the following is a gotcha question:

“Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?”

He’s needs to go. What a clown. Remember when America had decorum. Amit you list loser.

Another dumbass statement from the man who gave us “separation of church and state is a misnomer”.

  12. It’s only a “gotcha” question because giving the obvious, honest answer, is unacceptable by your own base.

You’re exactly right Mike. It’s a good litmus test to whether you will acknowledge reality or deny it to protect yourself from Trump’s ego.

  14. Sarah Palin thought Katie Couric asking her what book was on her nightstand was a gotcha question.

You’re not allowed to honestly answer that question and still be in Trump’s good graces, so I guess you invent reasons to not answer it.

But sure, it isn’t a cult.
