I watched one of my good friends evaporate like this. 2023 on the lyman frontlines, we were assaulting a position. I was taking almost direct small arms fire while we were pushing a trench line. I jumped onto the deck to get cover, and in the corner of my eye, I saw a larger artillery shell land directly onto one of my teammates. Once the dirt/smoke settled down, there was litterally nothing left but a crator. I believe the shell was a 240mm. Fired from a Tyulpan.
We ended up successfully finishing our mission and taking the russian trench.

edit: you can actually see a glimpse of one of them get airborne moving in an arc upwards from the centre of the impact and away from the video POV.

war nowadays is just dying from super faraway from a drone or bomb, infantry soldiers don’t seem that useful like the old days besides meat grinding.
