“Speaking to reporters on their way in to a Liberal caucus meeting on Parliament Hill, Liberal MPs expressed concern about the cost to the public purse…”

    Now that’s fucking rich.

This was such a strange position for them to take. The bill had the support of all of the Opposition parties, so there was no doubt it would ultimately pass, and granting Liberal support came with a pledge that the BQ would keep the government in power until the end of the year.

Anyone under the age of 60 should seriously reject the conservatives for supporting this bill. When they parade around saying that affordability is an issue for people, now they face the prospect of paying more taxes to support the OAS boost they want….

Respect for the Liberals here. Fuck the Conservatives, NDP, and Greens for wanting to transfer more wealth from young labour to boomers.

The program is not wealth-tested and is only income-tested at very high individual rates (the former is more important). OAS payments are fully eliminated when an individual’s income reaches $142,609

Since OAS is funded from general tax revenues, raising benefits would place a greater financial burden on taxpayers without effectively targeting those most in need.

A quick visit in Quebec and you will see a sea of grey hairs everywhere. They live much longer and a lot of them cannot afford to not be working. So they keep the good jobs from the young’s.

There isn’t enough young with good jobs to support them right now. Or young with good jobs to buy the overprice real estate that the boomers rely on. And if you tax them more, they will just move.

    This is gonna be bad.

  6. Wouldn’t have to boost if they reduced the income tax that seniors pay.Being paying income tax for 60 years.
