    >J.D. Vance flew off the handle during the vice presidential debate Tuesday night after one of the moderators tried to fact-check him about his favorite topic, the Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.

    >While responding to Vance’s justification of mass deportations, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz highlighted Vance’s role in spreading lies about Haitian immigrants in Springfield. Walz said that Vance’s rhetoric had “vilified a large number of people who were here legally in the community of Springfield.”

  2. This is just dishonest reporting.

Neither candidate “flew off the handle”. These editors should be ashamed of themselves for this headline.

  3. I wouldn’t say he freaked out or anything crazy. This debate was actually very mild and refreshing and should be a good standard for the presidential debates.

  4. Vance was good at talking. He kept his cool and deflected well and was able to add enough ambiguity as to not piss off Trump’s base when he agreed with a ‘liberal’ ideology.

With that being said, he lied out of his ass. This article is an exaggeration, but damn am I worried that those uninformed are actually going to listen to him.

Nobody freaked out. It was a very civil debate which our country hasn’t seen in a long time

  6. The only thing worse than a corrupt politician is someone like Vance, that is slick and smooths out all the edges, of that corrupt politician.

Vance never answered the question about his earlier statement that he would not certify the election.

Vance said Trump has been consistent about abortion. No.

Vance said Trump did great on health care. No. Trump tried overturning the ACA multiple times.

I don’t think this debate will sway anyone. But it’s a reminder of the two views for America.

I’m a liberal, and I think waltz said more of substance.

But seriously? “Flew off the handle” “Freaked out”?

Holy lord of dramatic. Nothing in this debate came even close to either of those things occurring, from either candidate.

I feel like Walz won me over with policy. JD seemed polished and practiced in a used carsalesman way.

  9. For me, the deciding line in the debate came from Vance, when he talked about how proud he was that they had the support of, laughably, two Democrats in Kennedy and Gabbard

Let’s fact check and list all the Republicans who have endorsed Harris or, better yet, haven’t endorsed Trump. It’s a damning admit of failure, Vance.

So a person who lies convincly is better at debating than one who is honest and likeable?

I think Walz did a better job. I can not wait to see him presiding over a Democratically controller U.S. Senate.

MAGA will love it but it made Vance look bad. He told an obvious lie, the moderators corrected him (or maybe added context – I don’t remember) and he called them out. But he didn’t say “I didn’t lie”. He said “you’re not allowed to fact-check me”, which implies he knowingly lied.

  12. Vance maintained his base tonight but Walz gained some supporters with his down to earth passion

  13. You’d think Kamala was president for the last 4 years. Did she really institute every single policy? Vance sure seemed to think so. “Ouch, I stubbed my toe. This is because of Kamala’s policies.”

What a click bait headline. He “freaks out”. He “flew off the handle”. No he didn’t. I, in no way, support Trump or Vance but these mischaracterizations on either side don’t lead to healthy discourse.

I wouldn’t call it slight. That has to be the first time since mics were invented that a presidential or vice presidential candidate had their mic muted for the purpose of cutting them off.

  16. Final-Stick5098 on

Damn Vance actually is the MAGA heir and I hate it. He says all of Trumps bullshit in a way that normal people can be convinced that his bullshit isn’t total bullshit and that’s scary.

It was a choice to have female moderators. It really showed how fragile he was when he talked over them.

Honestly this was all part of the plan. Get on, spew lies, then pitch a fit when someone finally corrected him. It’s theatre for his base and for the news outlets that will parrot his position for the next week.
