    From the article:

Former President Donald Trump has said he talked to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, a recent political ally, about sending Starlink satellites to areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.

But the federal government had already decided Sunday to send the satellites to areas in need of internet access.

At an event in Valdosta, Georgia, Trump said some residents in North Carolina “don’t have communication” before mentioning his chat with Musk and Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service.

“I just spoke to Elon. I’m getting him — we want to get Starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever. And Elon will always come through. We know that,” Trump said Monday. “And so we’re working on that, getting them hooked up. They asked me whether or not that would be possible. We’re going to try and get the Starlink in there as soon as possible.”

The White House, however, quickly pointed out that a Starlink partnership was already underway.

In a post on X, which Musk owns, the White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said, “This is already happening.”

  2. Again – something Trump knows he can claim credit for because the news will put it in the headline but not actually correct it until 2-3 paragraphs down in the article. People only see the headlines

  3. The only actual thing he’s done is disrupt relief efforts with his presence, and build a podium stand out of bricks from a destroyed building.

Let’s see, are the Starlink cables the ones with the RCA jacks? Quick, I need an extension cord with three holes.

  5. Trump also claimed that President Biden hadn’t been in contact with the governors and local authorities in the affected states when he absolutely had been.

If Trump’s mouth is moving, he’s lying.

  6. I can see musk not turning it on until his lord and savior trump gives him permission.

Trump will suck the genitals of anyone that gives him money and then promptly screw them over for the next bribing billionaire.

  8. Later today or tomorrow he will say they weren’t deployed until he asked Musk to do it.

Seems like Trump’s trying to take credit for something that was already happening. FEMA had it covered before his call with Musk.

  10. Starlink is sold at Costco it’s not some secret government program. Secondly if you don’t have power for the starlink device it’s not really gonna work. Solar probably isn’t an option. And many people are displaced without homes and power so that’s the problem with starlink. Lastly, rural America was where it was rolled out first because it doesn’t require the same infrastructure as regular internet. So they likely already have it available but see the point about Starlink needs power to work and we get back to Trump is really just dumb.

  11. Cosplaying as POTUS while his buddy Elon talks out of both sides of his mouth to get deals done with the actual sitting President.

Why was he briefed and given airtime anyway? Who fucking cares what Trump thinks, get him the fuck out of the way and let the professionals do their jobs.

  13. This guy, talking like he’s president and it’s his job to get disaster relief out there. Its so cringe!

  15. Like it’s a “good thing” to have Elon turning on/off communications to the highest bidder
