It’s kinda ironic considering the CLP and it’s de-facto leader, Jacinta Price keep going on about the damage that alcohol causes in Indigenous communities. I spent six months working in Mount Isa at the hospital where we had a lot of patients come in to emergency and for dialysis due to chronic alcohol use. It was heartbreaking to see. I understand the points made and the urgent need for more detox beds however making it cheaper will only incentivise more alcohol use.
I’d love to hear what Jacinta has to say about her state colleagues and their proposal considering she cared about the welfare of Indigenous communities so much during the voice referendum?
