>But Gen Z is drinking alcohol less than the generation before them.
Because they can’t afford it.

The cost of drinking is through the roof. I started home brewing a decade ago because of it and the costs have gone way up since then even.

I can barely afford a cat.

$65 for a 24 of Corona will do that to ya. Pushing $9 at a sit down restaurant for a bottle of “import.” As a mid-30 year old I still look forward to going to my parents to pilfer free beer.

The methodology is not in the article, and I don’t want to register to download the report. So, correct me if I am wrong.
This survey is very odd as they are comparing two cohorts who are in different life stages. The oldest millennial is in their mid-40s while the oldest GenZ is 27 and the youngest Millenial is 28 and the youngest Gen Z is 12, of course there will be many differences, including alcohol consumption or desire to be a parent (note that in the survey over 50% of Milenials had children, which means that those without are in a stage in life where they do not want to be a parent).
If they asked Millenials when they were 12-27 and compared to Gen Z now, that would have been intersting and a better comparison.
