Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. How would those program investments not count towards Canadian investment.

Petty and vindictive corporate behaviour, but not unexpected. What they’ll have to invest in Canada under C-11 will be more than the crumbs they’ve been dropping on Canadian talent development programs, and they’d rather invest less than more. They are hoping that people will blame the government and help get it off the hook for a bigger contribution.

Worldwide, production spending is tightening its belts now that cheap loans aren’t a dime a dozen. The industry they claim to so happily support is in favour of bringing streaming in line with everything else, especially now that there is no difference between any of them.
