Avro Arrow
Broke up the best engineering team in the world. Whether or not the Arrow would have been a good plane is unknown. I have read that the Arrow wouldn’t have had the needed range to protect our north, requiring hundreds of aircraft to form an effective shield. But the members of that team went on to lead engineering teams at Boeing, McDonald & Douglas, Grumman and NASA

Shifted the percentage of taxes paid in relation to disposable income from the wealthy to the group of Canadians who are least able to fund it.

The Avro was a dedicated interceptor. Â Read the wiki article on interceptors, the West stopped developing them right around the time of the Avro.
So much misunderstanding about this plane based on the belief that it was a ‘fighter jet’, not a highly specialized role aircraft for a dying job.
