So did anyone watch this and come away less informed than before? I cannot understand the coalitions position on power. For a party that promotes the individual over collectivism you’d think that they would be strongly behind solar and batteries specifically (I know Gina hurr durr but still). Solar and batteries can have you easily and relatively cheaply off grid and not being reliant on centralized power. The few details we know about this plan basically scream more centralized power, and significantly higher costs. Can someone make it make sense?

So he thinks that cheap renewable energy is bad. Promoting expensive nuclear and gas instead.
Logic.

Yes a “Nuclear” policy that is based on a technology that does not yet exist in commercial sphere even America has cancelled contracts for SMR’s, its simply a ploy to keep fossil fuels going like they did for the 9 years they were in power.
Its also pretty telling if Skynews of all places can’t spin it into something positive.

“cheaper, cleaner energy”
He caps the amount of renewables that can be deployed, completely [rejected a carbon tax](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09-10/peter-dutton-mining-best-friend-renewables-weapons/104334636#:~:text=%22Not%20since%20the%20days%20of%20imposing%20a%20carbon%20tax%20on%20your%20sector%2C%20or%20a%20mining%20tax%20on%20your%20sector%2C%20has%20a%20prime%20minister%20and%20a%20government%20been%20so%20out%20of%20touch%20with%20the%20need%20to%20keep%20our%20mining%20and%20resource%20sectors%20strong) for mines and now he has the audacity to say “cleaner energy”. He doesn’t care one bit about climate change.
And “cheaper” when everyone is saying it will cost more per Kw than renewables ([1](https://lens.monash.edu/@technology/2024/06/21/1386823/how-would-a-switch-to-nuclear-affect-electricity-prices-for-households-and-industry#:~:text=CSIRO%20recently%20published,hour%20by%202040), [2](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09-20/nuclear-costings-absent-power-bill-rise-supply-shortfall/104374718#:~:text=In%20the%20absence,seven%20nuclear%20plants)).
And still no costings by the way.
